Meghan Markle Posts Sweet Family Carousel, Ignites Buzz Over Prince Harry's Shirt During Playtime — Photos
A new photo drop from the Duchess of Sussex is turning heads, and it's not just for the sweetness of the family moments on display. People couldn't stop staring at Prince Harry's shirt!

Meghan Markle recently shared a carousel on Instagram captioned "Springing into summer 🌼," giving followers a peek at outdoor adventures, a discovered bird's nest, fresh charcuterie prep, and a black-and-white throwback that took fans straight back to 2017.
But there was also a sweet moment involving her husband and their son that people could not stop talking about, and it came down to a single piece of clothing.
The carousel, posted on June 9, 2026, opened like a scrapbook of an easy, sun-soaked stretch of days. There were shots of nature finding its way into their lives: a nest tucked somewhere outside with eggs waiting to hatch, then later the same birds, now born.
Her dog made an appearance too, and a video clip showed her prepping what looked like a charcuterie spread. Then came the children. Meghan has consistently kept her kids out of the frame in a recognizable way, and this post was no different.

The world only caught rare glimpses of baby Archie's face during the early months of his life before his parents stepped back from their senior royal duties. In this photo, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, held her son at a meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation during their royal tour of South Africa on September 25, 2019, in Cape Town, South Africa.

One image focused entirely on young Lilibet's outfit rather than her face: a shirt with a drawing of Beyoncé with earrings labeled "Queen Bey," and the words "Be is for Beyoncé" printed across the top. The girl's blonde hair is just barely visible at the edge of the frame.
Another photo was entirely in black-and-white. Timestamped March 31, 2017, it showed Meghan, now 44, and Prince Harry, now 41, captured from behind, leaning into each other in casual clothes.
Her arm was wrapped around him, and her sneaker-clad feet were kicked up beside her as they looked out at what appeared to be an open sky. It was the kind of quiet, unguarded image that almost feels like a callback to their shared history.
It's hard to even remember how far they've come. As Harry recounted in the 2022 Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan," the two first connected through a mutual friend on Instagram, then met in person for their first dates in London in July 2016. They hit it off quickly, kept things going long-distance, and word of the relationship broke that October.
A month later, Harry took the unusual step of publicly confirming their relationship in a formal statement, one he felt was necessary to push back against what he described as racist and sexist coverage that had followed the news of their courtship.

From there, the story moved steadily forward. They announced their engagement with a photo call at Kensington Palace in November 2017, the same year that the throwback was taken.
They married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, welcomed son Archie in May 2019, and stepped back from royal duties in January 2020. The family eventually settled in Meghan's home state of California, where Lilibet was born in June 2021.
Today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex split their time between philanthropy, various projects, and raising their two young children, which netizens can sometimes see on Instagram.

Since leaving royal life, Meghan has only given glimpses of their children on her Instagram. At this event, Prince Harry and she viewed a gift for their son Archie as they attended the WellChild Awards at Royal Lancaster Hotel on October 15, 2019, in London, England.

So, let's go back to the carousel and the photo that sparked the most conversation. It showed Harry mid-play with a large inflatable soccer ball, glancing toward a running Archie. The boy's face isn't visible, as expected, but he's clearly in motion, dressed in a blue shirt and beige shorts.
Harry is in dark pants and a gray shirt that reads: "Girl Dad." Fans zeroed in on this detail almost immediately. On Reddit, one commenter wrote, "Harry is allowed to play with his son only if he wears the Girls Dad t-shirt." Another said, "How insensitive towards his son. 💔"
A third stopped to question the shirt's meaning altogether: "Wow, nice spot. That's super weird. I always thought the 'girl dad' thing was for dads who ONLY have girls [sic]. Am I wrong??
On X, one netizen was more blunt, "Another insult to Archie Harry is wearing his 'girl dad' shirt [sic]."
Others took a closer look at the image itself on another X post. One person noted, "He doesn't even look like he's looking at Archie," while another replied with a more charitable read: "Yes I noticed that too. It's an old shirt so perhaps Harry has a very limited wardrobe [sic]."
Someone else kept it lighter, writing, "There's his son running again. Always so active in every photo! [sic]"

Whether the shirt was a deliberate choice or simply whatever Harry pulled on that morning, it turned a lighthearted family post into a loaded conversation, as most of the images Meghan shares have done.
And although Archie's face has barely ever been seen, his photos through the Duchess's lens tell an interesting story about his place in the family:
