The Princess of Wales attended King Charles' official birthday parade on Saturday, June 13, alongside her sons Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 8, and her daughter Princess Charlotte, 11.
The four were waving to well-wishers from a horse-drawn Ascot Landau carriage when Kate noticed the anti-monarchy group Republic jeering at her and her children.

She responded with a restrained, steely look as the moment unfolded, with the commotion also catching the attention of George, Charlotte, and Louis. Despite the temporary disruption, Kate held her composure and continued waving as the procession moved on — and her children followed her lead.
Social media users were quick to weigh in, with many condemning the protesters. "Charlotte looks like she wants to cry and Louis looks confused," one person wrote.
"Grown adults booed children. They should be ashamed of themselves," another said. A third agreed, "They should. I'm not a royalist but bullying kids is pathetic."

Others, however, directed their criticism at the Princess of Wales and the royal family, accusing them of using the children as sympathy shields. "She shouldn't be using kids that didn't ask for this life as shields. She probably thought the kids would prevent the people from boo-ing. I feel so bad for those kids," one viewer said.

"Shouldn't be [parading] their kids around like that and expecting people to cheer. The age of deference to the monarchy is over. The sooner the younger generations of royals realise that the better [sic]," another wrote.
"Kate Willy's want to parade the kids to keep in good favor w/ the subjects, is more important to them than protecting their children. At what point do they devise a plan for the kid to appear in church and then get taken away separately and then only appear again on the balcony?" a third wondered.

Kate and her children later joined other members of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Red Arrows flypast, waving to the crowds below.
Trooping the Colour has drawn protesters from Republic before, and the demonstrations have become a regular occurrence in recent years.
On Saturday, demonstrators lined the parade route and gathered outside Buckingham Palace, where thousands of spectators had assembled for a glimpse of the royals.

They carried signs bearing the group's signature slogans — "Not My King" and "Down with the Crown" — along with photos of former Prince Andrew drawn from the Epstein files.

A statement from Republic said the demonstration "called for Charles and William to answer questions on the Andrew scandal and for an end to the monarchy."

Andrew, 66, was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Authorities are investigating claims that he passed confidential information to the late Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a trade envoy for the British government.
His ties to Epstein — a financier and convicted sex offender who died in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges — have long dogged his reputation, and came under renewed scrutiny following the release of the declassified Epstein files in December.
The former Duke of York has vehemently denied any wrongdoing in connection with their relationship.
