After nearly 40 years together, Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan are still showing up side by side. Their latest public outing has drawn attention not just because of who they are, but because of everything they have been through since first meeting in the 1980s.

Fox showed up to Game Four of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on June 10 with his wife of nearly 38 years right by his side.

Fans who saw the photos couldn't stop talking, and the scroll-through gallery below tells the full story of how far this couple has come, from a TV set in 1986 all the way to the front row in 2026.

A Date Night at the NBA Finals

On June 10, 2026, Fox and Pollan attended Game Four of the 2026 NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

After images from the NBA Finals appearance began circulating online, many fans shared positive reactions. Among the comments were: "He looked so GOOD ❤️," "He's looking better," and "He looks fantastic."

Others focused on the couple's long marriage. "I love this couple demonstrating wedded bliss for better or for worse," one person wrote.

Another commented, "The couple of the year! THEY should teach marriage classes!" Additional reactions included: "He looks good, healthy! Yay!" and "He looks like he's doing great!"

Not every comment focused on Fox, however. One fan observed, "Two great people. She looks very different, though. I wouldn't have recognized her."

The outing came just one day after Fox's 65th birthday. On June 9, Pollan marked the occasion on Instagram with a photo of Fox, writing, "Happy birthday handsome! So excited to share another one with you, I love you Mikes❤️."

The birthday tribute comes as the couple nears another remarkable milestone in their journey together. This July, they will celebrate 38 years of marriage.

A Love Story That Started on Set

Fox and Pollan's story goes back to 1985, when they met on the set of the hit TV series "Family Ties." Pollan played Ellen Reed, the on-screen girlfriend of Fox's character Alex P. Keaton, and whatever chemistry existed on camera clearly carried over.

The pair married in July 1988. A year later, their first child, Sam, was born. The twins — Aquinnah and Schuyler — arrived in 1995, and their youngest, Esmé, followed in 2001.

Over the years, their marriage has become one of Hollywood's most enduring success stories, lasting through changing careers, public attention, and personal challenges.

Standing Together Through Difficult Times

Fox's career took off during the 1980s thanks to "Family Ties," "Teen Wolf," and "Back to the Future."

The Canadian-born actor became one of the biggest stars of his generation, earning multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards while appearing in hit television shows and films.

In 1991, however, his life changed dramatically. While filming "Doc Hollywood," Fox noticed a tremor in his pinky finger. A neurologist confirmed what no 29-year-old expects to hear: early-onset Parkinson's disease.

He kept the diagnosis private for years, continuing to work at full pace — films, television, and a hit run on ABC's "Spin City," which earned him another Emmy, three Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

It was only when his symptoms became impossible to conceal that he went public, stepping back from full-time acting to focus on advocacy.

Throughout it all, Pollan stayed. She became not just his wife but his primary caregiver and the constant beside him through every stage of the disease.

From Acting to Advocacy

In the fall of 2000, Fox launched The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The New York Times has called it "the most credible voice on Parkinson's research in the world."

To date, the foundation has raised over $2.5 billion and remains the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research. Fox has never stopped working, writing, or showing up.

He published four bestselling books — "Lucky Man," "Always Looking Up," "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future," and "No Time Like the Future" — and released his fifth, "Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum," in October 2025.

In 2023, Apple TV+ released "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie," a documentary about his life that earned seven Emmy nominations and won four. And on January 4, 2025, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the highest civilian honor in the United States.

What Keeps Them Going

In August 2018, just after their 30th wedding anniversary, Fox and Pollan sat down for a joint interview and were asked how they had made it work for so long.

Fox's answer: "Find the best things about you and the best things about life and celebrate them." Pollan's: "Just give each other the benefit of the doubt. He assumes I'm doing the best I can. His optimistic worldview about everything is just so powerful."

Nearly eight years later, those words still hold. The couple that fell for each other on a TV set four decades ago was back in the spotlight at Madison Square Garden — older, quieter maybe, but clearly still in it together.
