Oliver Tree Spoke About His Plans for His Will Weeks Before His Death

The "Miss You" singer revealed plans to leave his entire fortune to emerging artists — not his family — just weeks before dying in a helicopter crash at 32.

Oliver Tree opened up about the restrictions surrounding his will several weeks before his tragic death earlier this month. The late rapper and singer discussed his plans for his estate during an April appearance on "The Zach Sang Show."

Tree told the host that he didn't feel his "wealth or the things that get made from it" were rightfully his, which is why he intended to give it all away upon his death. "When I die — I've set it up — my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one's going to get a penny," he said.

"If I have a wife or kids or anything, [they're] not getting a [expletive] penny. I'll get my kids through college — that's the agreement. But there's not going to be a silver spoon — they're taken care of 'because my dad worked on some stuff in the 2000s,'" he continued. "The idea is, when I die, all the money is going to go back to artists."

The "Life Goes On" singer revealed that he had established a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree's Art Grants for Baby Geniuses, funded by interest generated from his music catalog. He also spoke about the possibility of his residuals contributing to the cause.

"Because when I die, my art will continue to have residuals and probably be worth more than it is now. People will finally appreciate my stupid [expletive] videos or my stupid [expletive] songs," he said. "That's when people appreciate you when you're not there anymore. Anyways, they might not. It doesn't even make a difference."

Tree was among six people killed in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, June 14, 2026. He was 32. In a statement, the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the crash.

"The investigation is ongoing at the 42nd Police Precinct. A forensic examination was conducted at the scene, and agents are awaiting the report from the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents," police said.

"The bodies of the six victims will undergo forensic examination for identification, which will be compared to data in the records of the Air Operations Center," the statement continued. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the crash.

At the time of his death, Tree was in the midst of a world tour, having performed in São Paulo on June 6. He had been scheduled to play in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1.

Following news of his passing, tributes from fellow artists poured in across social media. Kid Cudi wrote on X, "Spoke to Oliver a few weeks ago. This is heartbreaking. A really amazing and beautiful human. [...] Sending all my prayers and love to the families dealing with losses. Oliver we love you, forever."

Bebe Rexha was equally devastated.

"I'm in shock. I was in the middle of my CD signing in NYC when I found the news of Oliver Tree," she wrote. "I can't believe it. We recorded a record together to be on Dirty Blonde. He was so smart. Passionate. Talented. Kind. I'm so sad. May he rest in peace."

Tree's former girlfriend Melanie Martinez shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram Stories, saying she had "been a wreck" since hearing the news.

"He had such a soft heart and was a true artist in every way. Rest in peace Oliver," she wrote. "I know you're making the angels giggle. I'll be here wondering what stunt and creative project you're scheming up in heaven. All my love."
