Justin Baldoni Breaks Silence After Settling 2-Year Blake Lively Dispute

The actor and director has largely kept quiet since Blake Lively's lawsuit against him became public. Now, alongside his wife of over a decade, he's finally sharing where the two of them stand.

In the aftermath of his highly publicized legal case with Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni is finally opening up. The actor and director broke his silence in an emotional video alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, shared on Wednesday, July 8.

"We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years," Justin began in the clip. "And it's not because we haven't had anything to say, because Lord knows we have."

"But it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn't feel like the right time and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it."

Now that they're ready to speak out, Emily shared, "We can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things, and so many people, and so many things that have happened to us."

"That gratitude, it doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years," she continued.

"We've had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen, let alone disguised as a fight for women?"

Emily explained that their family — which includes their children, Maiya, 11, and Maxwell, 8 — has had to work through considerable trauma, a factor that contributed to their prolonged silence.

As Justin put it, "There have been so many painful things that have been spoken to existence over the last couple of years. And that created so much noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course."

"And the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves," Emily added. The couple then offered an update on how they're doing these days.

"We are healing. If you've ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn't linear. It looks different every day," Justin said. "We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters."

"It's this. It's our family, it's our friends, it's our community, who have been there for us, it's our faith," he continued. Justin noted that he and Emily, who married in July 2013, have grown "closer, more devoted, and steadfast" in their faith than ever before.

The couple went on to thank fans for serving as their "voice" throughout the ordeal, before Emily added, "There's so much more to say. The time will come. But for now, we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life."

Justin and Emily's video arrives after he reached a settlement in the lawsuit filed by his "It Ends With Us" costar, Blake, who accused him of fostering a hostile work environment on the set of the 2024 film.

In her suit, Blake alleged that Justin sexually harassed her while directing and starring alongside her in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel of the same name.

The "Gossip Girl" alum claimed he made remarks about her postpartum appearance, brought up pornography, and kissed her without consent during filming — allegations Justin has denied.

The "Jane the Virgin" star also pushed back on Blake's claim that his company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated against her by launching a smear campaign designed to damage her reputation and credibility.

Before the settlement was reached, a judge had already dismissed 10 of Blake's 13 claims, including those related to sexual harassment. At the time, her legal team intended to bring the remaining claims — breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation — to trial in May.
